SPARKZ

Sparkz is a four-page supplement included within The News every two months and is written by young people. They write about events, social problems, education, leisure and many other topics which interest them. About 125 student reporters have written for Sparkz during the last two years, many of them visiting The News Centre to work through their article with a News reporter to make sure it is of a very high written standard. Many of our young reporters claim that writing for Sparkz has helped them improve their grades in a number of GCSE subjects. The six best writers each issue receive a CD voucher from ROSS RECORDS in recognition of their excellent contribution.

Articles to be considered for Sparkz should be sent via email to sparkz@thenews.co.uk or posted to:

Designing of annual school governors' reports to parents

Education services recognise that for many school governing bodies the creation of the annual report to parents can be a laborious and time-consuming job with the school's secretarial staff being called upon to stand for hours doing the photocopying.

We can make light of this task. We will design and lay out the report to your requirements, revise the draft copies until you are entirely happy with the finished product and then print the report and deliver it to school. All we require is a disk with the report writing on it (in whatever format you find the easiest to produce), together with digitised pictures or photographs to illustrate the report. We will then create the report for you at a very modest and realistic price and have it ready for distribution according to an agreed time scale.

Special education discounts for delivered copies of The News to schools.

Many schools and colleges like to use The News as a resource in the classroom; others use The News as a resource in the library or resources area. Some schools have copies in the staff room and reception areas and in other schools the headteacher uses The News to keep up to date with local education and other topics.

However if YOUR school or college would like to use The News we can make it easier and cheaper. Copies of The News (minimum order five per day) can be delivered to the school each week day during term time and can be used for wehatever purpose in the school eg. staff room, library, resources centre, headteacher's office, reception area, classroom, etc. The cost to schools and colleges per copy is just 10p (minimum 50p per day). Newspapers will be invoiced at the end of each term. Schools wishing to use The News for a one-off project can still take advantage of this great education discount.

For example: if you want 60 copies of Thursday's edition of The News for a careers lesson, once a week for four weeks, then we can easily accommodate your request. Just write to the address on the home page or complete the request form below and either email it to us or print a copy and post it to us.
