| Recovering the remains
of the hull in one piece
1. June, 1982
A tubular steel lifting frame, supported on four legs, was placed
above the wreck. Lifting wires were attached to steel bolts which
passed through the hull to backing plates on its outside

2. September 30 - October 1,
1982
The lifting frame was raised up the
shafts of the legs using hydraulic jacks, until the Mary Rose was
suspended above the seabed.

3. October 9, 1982
When the tide and weather were suitable,
the hull, suspended by the lifting frame, was raised by the crane
Tog Mor and transferred underwater to a steel cradle, lined with
air bags, which had been placed on the seabed, west of the wreck.

4. October 11, 1982
Once the hull was safely in the cradle,
the whole package, weighing 570 tonnes, was lifted and placed on
the deck of a barge ready to be towed to the naval base.
